This building was built in the Meiji era by a wealthy merchant who moved to Hakodate from far away from Honboku and made a fortune in Hakodate. It originated from a villa. There are three tea rooms, including “Matsubaan,” named by the 15th Urasenke Iemoto, Sen Soshitsu, each with its own charm.
