Fascinating archaeological industrial complex

Immersed in the countryside of Capalbio, near the "Ultima Spiaggia" beach in Chiarone, one can find this important and unique - for size and its historical importance - complex of industrial archeology, dates back to the sixteenth century and it was operational until 1870 and it holds a strong residential character. The once operational body of the blast furnace in which the Grand Duches of Tuscany smelted the iron ore from Elba, is annexed by two very comfortable houses, measuring 120 and 60 sqms, each with a garden overlooking the countryside. The suggestive halls of the blast furnace and the cooling room are also overlooked by a generous space intended for a large apartment. The complex is a rare architectural testimony of the origins of the Tuscan iron and steel industry of extraordinary originality and great potential.
